Adoption Process

From lonely to loved: Embrace a new family member. Start the adoption process

Why Choose Adoption?

Adopting a pet goes beyond bringing in a companion; it’s, about making a transformative impact on lives. By giving a deserving animal a chance at love you not save a life but also create space in shelters for others in need. Moreover you get to experience the joy that comes with love. It’s a journey that involves the family forging strong bonds and imparting valuable lessons like empathy and responsibility. So let go of any fixation on breeds and open your heart to finding an unique forever friend waiting in a shelter. Through adoption you gain more, than paws and soothing purrs – it infuses your life with meaning and creates stories that are more profound than any pedigree can offer.

why pet adoption is important?

For the animals:

  • Saving lives: Overpopulation leads to euthanasia at shelters. Choosing adoption saves a deserving animal, making space for another in need.
  • Second chances: Animals in shelters deserve love and stability. Adopting gives them a safe haven and a happy ending.
  • Breaking the cycle: Adoption reduces pet overpopulation by giving existing animals homes, decreasing reliance on breeding facilities.
why pet adoption is better than buying

For the community:

  • Reduces strain on shelters: Fewer adopted animals means more resources for remaining ones, improving care and welfare.
  • Promotes responsibility: Caring for a pet teaches empathy, kindness, and responsibility, benefiting both the animal and society.
  • Spreads awareness: Choosing adoption raises awareness about shelter animals and encourages others to consider adoption.

For you:

  • Unconditional love: Rescued animals shower their families with boundless love and gratitude, creating a unique and rewarding bond.
  • Personal fulfillment: Knowing you’ve made a difference in an animal’s life brings immense joy and satisfaction.
  • Companionship: Pets enrich our lives with laughter, loyalty, and playful energy, improving mental and physical well-being.

In summary, pet adoption is a win-win-win situation. It benefits animals, shelters, and individuals, creating positive ripples throughout the community. If you’re considering getting a pet, open your heart and home to a rescue animal – you might just change their life, and yours, forever.

The Adoption Process

Are you ready to open your heart and home? Let me guide you through the process of adopting a friend

1. Finding your match
Start by browsing the profiles of pets on the website of Paws Atlanta. Consider your lifestyle, energy level, and living situation to find the fit.
You can also attend adoption events where you can meet fur friends in person.
Don’t hesitate to ask questions at the adoption center; their staff is more than happy to assist you in finding your match!

2. Application & Pre-approval
Fill out an adoption application either online or at the center. This helps the center understand your home environment and ensures a fit for both you and the animal.
Be prepared to provide references and if necessary schedule a home visit (although this may not be required at all centers).

3.Greet (optional)
If both you and the center believe it’s a match, a formal meet and greet might be arranged.
Take some time to interact with the animal ask any remaining questions and see if there’s that connection.

4. Making it official
If you feel confident, about your choice proceed with the adoption paperwork to finalize the process.

Typically you will be required to pay an adoption fee, which covers the costs of spaying/neutering, vaccinations, and microchipping. You will also need to sign an adoption agreement.

5. Welcome your friend!

Make sure your home is ready, for their arrival by setting up a bed, food and water bowls, toys, and any other necessary items.
